Turn that frown upside down!

Smiling Kitty

Do you realise that you are your own worst enemy?

It is you that defeats you – regardless of what the situation may entail. Whether you have been talked down to, made to feel small and insignificant, or had your work discredited, you have let that negative influence dictate your negative response; the circumstance has penetrated your persona causing you to stay down, kissing the floor… I’m here to tell you that it’s time YOU GET UP!

In the same way light cannot exist without darkness neither can good exist without evil. In the exact same way a negative cannot exist without its polar opposite, a positive. That person who talked down to you or made you feel small might be suffering from ego-i-tis! Let them have their power-trip but know that their opinion does not dictate who you are in life. Who are they really outside the workplace? It might be their own insecurities that have caused them to be this way? Consider yourself fortunate that you do not suffer from the same issues! Keep your head up. That person who discredited your work earlier might be being harsh for a reason. They too had a hard time learning the trade but are now better for it. Could that be their plan for you? Either way you are now more aware of the standard of work expected from you. Turn that frown upside down!

Seeing the good in bad circumstances does require a mindset shift, it doesn’t come naturally. In society today it seems almost unnatural to talk about anything positive. It took Christ to get me to see things the way they actually are and I’m still learning. The cases above are just a few examples of what and how the situation really is and guess what… if you don’t like the state of affairs, change it!

Making sure that things around you begin to work for your good involves you changing YOU. Only then will the situations and circumstances around you be affected in the way you want it to. In today’s world we are never that far away from a nasty comment or action that causes us to feel unworthy in our skin. God has created you the way you are for a reason and there is NO ONE else on planet earth that is exactly like you. Be proud of who you are and enjoy and explore your own uniqueness (if that’s a word)!

Why be your own worst enemy when you can be your best ally?

Very well said A4X. That brings to mind this quote, captures the essence of your post quite nicely:

“Life is 10% what you make it, and 90% how you take it”

Our attitude dictates our reaction! As you rightly said, it helps if we can tune it UP! ; )

Just what I needed to read today… thanks for writing and sharing this:-)The self-defeating attitude or the winning attitude… it’s all our choice.

Well said!!!! Thats the message I find myself spreading each day to my friends. Too many times we let others dictate how we feel and what we do and we end up limiting ourselves.

We should all remember that; In every moment, we are the only ones who get to choose our attitude. So Choose wisely.

Thanks also for visiting my blog…much appreciated

Exactly : ) As they say, “Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?”

This is brilliant! We are the masters of our lives and we must be the ones to live it to the fullest no matter what it hands us, amazingly written!

Thank you all for your comments.

@atticus – Very well said. It is also said that “our attitude determines our latitude” in life. The higher you climb in this on Mt Life, the more this post will apply to you.

@orange – You are correct, it is a choice. It’s far too easy to get bogged down in the omnipresent negativity that exists in the world today. Keep choosing to win!

@moijoie – I’m glad this article spoke to your soul and I’m glad we are on the same wavelength. Continue to exercise patience before letting your impulse reaction have all the fun.

@audria – We are beacons of light in this dark world. It’s only right that as the world gets darker, we must shine brighter. Keep shining Audria!

@douja – Thanks for the complement. You are right. No one is going to live your life for you. We only have one life, as we know it, to live. I pray that your drive and determination is in line with where God wants you to be in life.
